Konichiwa!
As you may know, I recently returned from Japan – a wonderful place to visit - but getting there and back is horrendous! My experiences on these long journeys has given me a lot to think about regarding how to travel “well” and I would love to share my thoughts with you.
In my next few newsletters we will talk about everything from food to movement. We are in the midst of travel season, so I hope you will find the information, tips and videos helpful in making your travel experience as “well” as can be.
In this issue, I have a bone to pick with travel food. (not literally - I am a pescatarian)
If you know me at all, you know that I hold dearly the belief that healthful food is the foundation for health and wellness. Multiply that by a hundred when you travel.

As you know, I am a health-news nerd. I eagerly dive into any new science about food, exercise and healthful lifestyle.
I love knowing what’s new in the research or even the scuttlebutt. I keep an eye on trends to see what kind of information is being released to the public and what isn’t.
This is my idea of fun. Really.
The downside of this is that sometimes information becomes old news to me, before it has even become new news to the general public. The other downside is that I can be a little neurotic, I’ll admit it, about the foods I eat, how they are prepared and other lifestyle choices.

Fat.
How do you react to the word fat?
Uncomfortable? Distaste? Worried?

Don’t worry if you feel these things. You’re not alone.

The misunderstanding about fat is just one example of confusing health and wellness news I clarify in my Wellness Conversations.
But for now, let’s stick with fat and get down to the nitty-gritty of fat what it really is.
Here it is. Drumroll please.

Fascia....Fascinating
In the world of Fitness and Wellness that I like to call home, we are challenged with attempting to Listen to what our clients are telling us about their body, to Look at their posture and movement patterns and to Provide exercises, techniques, and advise to help them live a life of “whole person health.”
Over the past several years, more and more attention has been given to the “Fascia” of the body. According to Medicine.net, Fascia is the latin word for band or bandage. Fascia is the connective tissue that literally bands us together to help give us shape. In the past, we used to think of connective tissue as sort of a lifeless thing like a rubber band or duct tape that just held muscle to bone or bone to bone in order to help us move. But now we have come to realize what all of my clients know.
“It's ALIVE!”
